Answers to common questions about the SkyDNS Manager. For step-by-step instructions, see the other guides in this category.
Why doesn't my domain show up in the dropdown?
SkyDNS Manager only lists domains that do not have a hosting plan with us. If your domain has hosting, its DNS is already managed automatically through cPanel and SkyDNS Manager isn't needed for it - you manage that domain's DNS records through the cPanel Zone Editor instead. If you think this is a mistake, contact support.
I clicked "Activate DNS Management" and I see "Request pending approval" - did something go wrong?
No, this is normal in rare cases (for example, if a DNS zone already existed for your domain for some earlier reason). The request is waiting for manual review by an administrator, and you'll receive an email as soon as it's approved, usually within the same business day. Details are in the "Activating the SkyDNS Manager" guide.
What does it mean when the zone is "locked"?
An administrator has temporarily locked your zone - usually while support is working on your ticket. While locked, you can't add/edit/delete records, but you can still view existing records, use the checking tools ("Check nameservers", per-record "Check"), and export the zone. Contact support if you need an urgent change.
Why can't I edit some records (they say "system")?
Records labeled "system" (usually NS and SOA) are part of the zone's core setup and clients can never edit or delete them - this is different from "locked" (see the question above), which is temporary and applies to ALL records.
I've reached the maximum number of records - what now?
The "X / Y records" counter in the card header shows your current limit. Contact support if you need a higher record limit for your domain.
Why isn't there a button to turn off DNS management myself?
This is intentional - as long as you own the domain, you keep full control over its DNS records. If you want to stop managing DNS while the domain is still yours, open a support ticket.
What does "Too many changes in a short time" mean?
To protect the DNS server from being overloaded, the number of changes per minute is limited. This limit is set well above what's needed for normal manual use - if you hit it, wait a minute and try again.
Can I restore my zone myself from the exported (.txt) file?
No - the exported file is a snapshot for manual reference/backup, not a format that gets loaded back automatically. If you ever need to restore a previous state of your zone, send that file to support.
I got a session-expired / "please refresh the page" message - what do I do?
This happens if the page was open for a while before you submitted a change. Simply refresh the page (F5) and try again.
Who do I contact if I still have a problem?
Open a support ticket describing the issue (and, if possible, the exact error message text) - our support team has access to additional diagnostic information not shown in the client panel.
