CSR generator

Create a CSR and private key for a new SSL certificate right here, with nothing to install and no command line.

A CSR (Certificate Signing Request) is what you send to a certificate authority when ordering an SSL certificate — it states which domain you're requesting the certificate for and, if needed, your company details. It is generated together with a private key, and the two form a pair: the certificate will only work with the key its CSR was created with.

Enter at least the Domain. Fill in the other fields only if you're ordering an OV or EV certificate, where the company is verified alongside the domain — DV certificates don't need them.
Click “Generate CSR”. The key pair and CSR are created at that moment, on this page, and are never stored anywhere.
Save both texts right away. You submit the CSR when ordering the certificate; the private key stays with you and is used during installation — if you lose it, the certificate has to be revoked and reissued.

Domain CN — Common Name

The full domain name with its extension (e.g. yoursite.com), with or without www — a bare word with no extension is not a domain.

Company O — Organization

Only for OV/EV certificates.

Department OU — Organizational Unit

Optional, also OV/EV.

City L — Locality

State/Province ST — State

Country C

E-mail

Optional.

Key size

2048 is the standard used by every certificate authority and is enough for every purpose; 4096 is slower and rarely needed.
